Happy Wednesday, friends! I find it hard to believe it’s already July, but the temperatures where I am definitely suggest we’re in the height of Summer. My days currently consist of trying to get our toddlers outside in some capacity super early before it feels like an oven, and then surviving the afternoon heat inside in some way. Sometimes we just play at the house, other times we go to a local museum. Their favorite activity is the grocery store, of course, haha (I kid, I kid).
Books I read in June include:
The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry
The House is on Fire by Rachel Beanland
Unhinged by Thomas Enger and Jørn Lier Horst
This month I focused my reading on finally finishing The Secret Book of Flora Lea, and I enjoyed it. I think it would have made more of an impact had I not taken my sweet time reading it. My favorite of the month was probably The House is on Fire, which was what my in person bookclub voted on to read (review coming soon!). After the two somewhat heavier historical fiction novels, throwing in a Swedish thriller really helped drive my reading forward, and I’m looking forward to what July brings!
Other things I’m loving this month:
Due to the increased heat, I added these electrolytes to my water and it’s been so helpful at keeping me hydrated! I found this mixture to be a bit salty, so I half the recommended amount of powder and use a bit more water.
While the height of Summer is definitely upon us, I’m loving watching my toddlers enjoy all the water play they can without freezing. And they love it too!
I started doing a custom half-caf coffee blend in the morning for my espresso, and it’s been wonderful. I’ve been able to cut down on the amount of caffeine I drink while still enjoying my favorite morning beverage.
What have been your favorite things this month?
